Frequently Asked Questions

There are a lot of questions you might have about getting a tattoo. Take a look at the frequently asked questions that Monchi Art hears from clients. Don’t see an answer to your question? Send me an email at info@monchiart.com or a message on Whatsapp, and I’ll get right back to you.

Where Are You Located?

I opened up my tattoo studio in 2021, located in Midtown, Miami, 33137. I frequently travel around the US, so make sure to stay updated on where I’m going next! You can find me at 3250 NE 1st Ave Miami, FL 33137, but make sure to call first for instructions on finding my secret location.

How Can I Get A Quote?

Book an appointment with this form, and provide your information and details regarding the tattoo you want. After receiving your request, you will receive an estimate shortly. For larger projects, I recommend that you come in for a free consultation and get a price range of how much it will cost.

How Much Do You Charge?

The final price depends on a number of factors including:

  • Size and Detail
  • Position on the body
  • Style

How Can I Book An Appointment In Miami?

Once you have approved the quote, a deposit of 25% will be collected that goes towards the final price of the project. Then we will go about booking the appointment. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferrable.

How Can I Book An Appointment In A Specific Convention Or City?

Send me an inquiry specifying what convention or city you want to be tattooed in and you will be notified of Monchi’s availability. Once you receive a quote, in order to secure your spot you will need to submit the deposit which will go towards the final price. Again, deposits are non-refundable and non-transferrable. Monchi can travel to different cities and states if the project is large enough. However, Monchi Art needs a minimum of 3 consecutive days of work—conditions apply.

Can You Do A Cover Up?

I don’t specialize in cover-ups, but I will take a look at what you need covered up and will let you know if exceptions can be made. For further details, send me message and I will let you know shortly.

What Age Do I Need To Be To Get A Tattoo?

You have to be at least 18 to get a tattoo in the United States without parental consent. If you are a minor who is 16 or 17 years old, you can get a tattoo in the State of Florida if your parent or guardian fills out a consent form and has it notarized.

Can Pregnant Women Get Tattoos?

There is a lack of research on the safety of getting tattoos while you are pregnant. Getting a tattoo when pregnant puts you at increased risk of infection, and it is recommended that you wait until after your baby is born to get a tattoo.

Can You Get Tattoos Over Scars or Stretch Marks?

You can get a tattoo over scars and stretch marks. Since not all scars and stretch marks are the same, you should have a consultation before deciding to get a tattoo over them. However, tattoos can cover up scars and stretch marks well, depending on how long they’ve been there, the size, and other factors.

Can Diabetics Get Tattoos?

Diabetics are significantly more at risk of developing an infection. Tattooing increases risk of developing infection and poor blood circulation and elevated blood sugar can affect the tattoo’s ability to heal.

What Are The Best Places To Get A Tattoo?

The best place to get a new tattoo is all up to personal preference. Our clients often choose to get tattooed on their arms, legs, chest, and back. But there’s no wrong answer!

Does It Hurt To Get Tattoos?

Tattooing is the process of repeatedly piercing the top layer of your skin with a needle covered in ink. While how much a tattoo hurts is subjective, it’s definitely painful to a degree.

Tattoo Aftercare

What’s Your Tattoo Aftercare?

  • Leave the plastic wrap on for 3 hours, the skin needs to rest with protection, and leave on overnight for larger tattoos.
  • Remove the plastic wrap and wash with mild soap and water.
  • Let the tattoo air dry.
  • For the first 24 to 48 hours, maintain the area very clean, washing it 2/3 times a day. Do not apply lotion.
  • Apply a very thin layer of cream, such as Hustle, Bacitracin, Lubriderm, or A&D 3 times a day, for 2-3 weeks until healed. Apply thin because the tattoo has to breathe.
  • Never, never use vaseline or Neosporin because the tattoo has to breathe.
  • Avoid direct sunlight for 4 weeks.
  • Avoid swimming pools and beaches for 3 weeks. Consider the tattoo as an open wound and those places are full of bacteria, leading to a high risk of infection.
  • Do NOT work out for at least 1 week. This is VERY important. The tattoo edges will become fuzzy, and you’ll compromise the artwork.
